"Managing a successful deer and turkey population takes a lot of
time and hard work in the off season. To us hunting is a year
round process. These pictures below show a little of what we do
year in and year out to manage our properties and create better
hunting quality on our properties."
Here is a 230 class deer that is on our property. This deer could be your Iowa Trophy! Book your hunt today with a chance at a 200 inch buck with Southwest Iowa Outfitters!

Another 200 inch deer on our farm.

|
A big mature buck that will go in the 160's.
|
We got a lot of nice pictures of this buck, he is a mainframe 10 with non typical points coming out of the base of his horns. More pictures of this deer throughout this page. |
This is a match set that was found just behind the lodge. This buck is still roaming our properties and should be a 160 class deer by now. This buck grossed about 148 supposing he had an 18 inch spread. |
This is another nice shed antler. He had 5 typical points and 2 non-typical points assuming both sides were the same it would have been about a 155-160 inch buck. He lived through to be here next season and hopefully be closer to 170. |
About 50 shed antlers found on our properties over about a 2 week span. A lot of these deer are going to be nice bucks next season. |
![]() A nice wide 11 pointer posing for the camera.
|
A look at this nice buck without velvet. |
The other side of this beautiful deer, you can see the character of his rack in this picture. |
![]() A nice 12 pointer only feet away from a bow stand.
|
Here is a nice young buck on one of our properties. |
The G3 buck moving through just before daylight. This buck was never taken and will be a monster next year (2011). |
A rear profile of this guys rack.
|
2 Bucks sparring right in front of the game camera. |
This buck scores in the low 190's. |
A big buck not afraid of the camera. |

Another big mature deer near our lodge. |
We also offer some excellent fishing. Take a break from your hunt and do some ice fishing in the winter or great shoreline fishing in the spring and summer months.
|
The crappie to the left measured a whopping 17 inches long and was caught through the ice at one of our many fishing ponds. Our ponds are stocked with Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and nice catfish. We are going to offer walleye, wiper, and smallmouth bass fishing in the near future. |
The Lewellen brothers finishing a fun day of ice fishing at Southwest Iowa Outfitters. Also a look at our lodge in the background still under construction at the time of the picture.
|
A nice mature 8 pointer. This buck will gross score around 150 inches.
|
Another mature buck. |
A nice buck working a scrape. |
A nice mature buck with a 3rd main beam. This camera is just 5 yards away from one of our tree stands, this property is just walking distance from our lodge. |
Another pick of this unique buck. |
Here is a group of deer moving in front of one of our many trail cameras. |
Here is an example of one of our early season food plots. This mix of Chicory, Alfalfa, and 4 kinds of clover is great for deer and turkey. The deer will hit this at different times of the year and is a great food source for early and mid season bow hunting. The turkeys will strut in our clover mix in the spring as they look for bugs to eat in the leaves. |
Here we are clearing a spot for a food plot on a newly acquired farm. In this spot we plan to plant short season beans in the spring. Then in the early fall we will broadcast winter wheat and winter peas to add an extra food source for late season hunting.
|
Here is another look at our clover, chicory, alfalfa mix. This plot is in its first year of growth. The deer and turkey have already been hitting this food plot.
|
Here is a turnip plot that we planted on one of our farms. Turnips are great for a late season food plot. Once the deer hit this food plot they will feed there until the food source is gone.
|
Paying attention to deer sign and deer behavior is another way that we scout our properties. This is a huge rub that we found in one of our timbers.
|
3 bucks moving by the camera. A nice 160 class 12 point buck and a couple young bucks. |
A nice wide, mature 9 pt and a young 1.5 yr old buck. The big 9 pt made it through the season and should be really nice next season! |
